Being part of a profession that serves the community and those around you is not for the faint of heart, as it presents many challenges, but it is definitely worth the while and so rewarding.  Social work in its universal definition states that we seek to promote change, development and cohesion by empowering people to take control of their lives and the areas they consider an issue or out of balance. Social work practice involves the understanding of human development, behaviour and the social, economic and cultural institutions and interactions (NASW, 2021).  Apart from the focus of the profession I became a social worker as I wanted to be able to assist others to achieve their full potential.  My focus is to influence and change legislation, break unhealthy cultural practices and promote autonomy.  The most important thing for each and every person is to achieve self-actualisation.  I love exploring why and how behaviour is formed, how it influences other systems and what can be done to modify, change or alter the behaviour and the results thereof.  I started my own practice after completing my Master's degree in social worker as I wanted to be able to provide quick, comprehensive and effective services.  My passion for counselling and life coaching inspired me to get out there and offer guidance to others by utilising my knowledge and expertise as well as life experience.
